Unit 1 - The 5 Obstructions
Unit 2 – Constructed Narrative / Altered bodies
Unit 3 – Translation
Unit 4 – Mediated mark making

Unit 6 – Open Final Projects
**A calendar will be drafted after the 1st week of class. Complete project descriptions will be handed out to the class at the introduction of each unit. A description will also be on our class website for you to access from any computer.
Your goals:
We will begin the class with discussion about your goals. You will be asked throughout the course to revisit the question of what you wish to accomplish. There will be several pauses for feedback and reflection. By maintaining a reflexive relationship with me (the instructor) and other students, we will flex as much as is possible as knowledge and skills are acquired so that you may get your best work from assignments. Please make it one of your goals to absolutely throw yourself into this process!
My goals:
My role in our community will be to facilitate your engagement with materials, your peers and to help you find your own best methodology for creating a sustainable art practice to carry through your lives. I hope to present you with a series of dilemmas that will introduce ways of approaching making that you may not have experienced before. The assignments will be designed by me but I will endeavor to encourage creative interpretation of the framework I provide. My enthusiasm is guaranteed.
